Harvesting and Building at Armfelt Acres |
established in 1977 |
HISTORY: Armfelt Acres began in 1977 when one of the principles, Dr. Mark Armfelt graduated from veterinary school, bought the old farm house and acreage they currently live on and started a veterinary practice at the farm. His son, Chodd, is the other half of the pair. He does most of the farming, harvesting trees, and has a hand in designing pieces when he is not working as an electrician. Woodworking has always been one of Mark’s hobbies and the two of them have recently expanded their shop and wood storage area to a size of 32’ by 84’ with the idea that Mark could spend much of his time in retirement there. They also added a kiln to dry wood.
TODAY: Our projects evolve from one of two paths. The first, perhaps comes about through a conversation with the client that focuses on what they want and how we can provide it. That conversation includes everything from type of wood and style of legs to size of the piece to what kind of finish we will use. The second path involves looking at the piece of wood and then deciding what will best highlight the discovered character. It may become a table or a mirror or perhaps be combined with other like pieces and be made into a headboard such as displayed or a mirror that has been made from a black walnut log. Shelving design and purpose is also "wide open" and will be dictated by space, wood chosen, and finish. Call us with YOUR ideas for a quality project for your home or office. |
